About the CLWA

Report merganser broods here

As spring arrives, mergansers are returning to Crystal Lake. Once again this summer, the CLWA will be carrying out a swimmer's itch control program that involves trapping and relocating merganser broods to other water bodies. YOU CAN HELP THE TRAPPING TEAM BY REPORTING SIGHTINGS OF BROODS TO THIS ONLINE FORM [LINK HERE]. This process enables the team to make a quick response for successul removal of all merganser broods that appear on Crystal Lake in 2019. Broods will likely begin to appear in early June. It is not necessary to report individual adult mergansers, unless you observe a hen behaving in a way that suggests a nest location. (Mergansers nest high in hollow trees which may be some distance from the lake.)
