CLWA News

Are you protecting water quality with your vote?

The CLWA encourages you to vote, and to seriously consider water quality and the environment when you select a candidate. We in Benzie County are blessed to be surrounded by water, lakes and rivers that bring joy to our lives and attract visitors from around the world.

One County official plays a major role in protecting our water, but may be unfamiliar to citizens: the Drain Commisioner. S/he manages and improves the complex system of drains that keep stormwater and groundwater from flooding our communities and oversees the dams that prevent harmful erosion and protect aquatic life. Rapid development and intensifying storms make these duties increasingly vital to our health and economy as they protect our precious water resources.

To better inform Benzie County voters about the two candidates competing for the next four years in this office, the CLWA asked them to respond to a brief questionnaire. To see the responses CLICK HERE.
