Financial Development

Treasurer: Bruce Gerhart

CLWA crafts its budget to reflect its program needs. Many excellent programs are under way, and there is always more that can be accomplished. The generosity of CLWA’s members and supporters directly determines the organization’s level of activity to preserve and protect Crystal Lake for future generations.

Beginning in 2016, CLWA greatly expanded the scope of its swimmer’s itch control efforts and initiated a new program to monitor and resist invasive species. These projects continue into the present. A strong revenue base is needed to meet these challenges.

Membership dues make up less than one-third of the operating budget. Additional contributions, grants, and legacy gifts help keep the budget in balance. CLWA also maintains a modest portfolio of investments.

Other fixed assets include the boat washing station at the DNR Crystal Lake Boating Access Site and the electronic lake level monitoring system at the Crystal Lake outlet.

CLWA’s Board of Directors carries out its programs and are all volunteers, serving without compensation. The organization employs three individuals on a very limited, part-time basis.
